Great experience. Best time to come is early fall and spring-cooler temperatures, less gnats, and greater likelihood of seeing critters if you plan to arrive as soon as refuge opens in the morning. Bring your camera, rent canoes or kayaks, or go on a motor boat tour. Great adventure for children and adults. Have a real adventure

Visited around Oct 25th. Weather was great. Barely any bugs maybe because of the breeze.entry fee 5 dollars per CAR. Did a boat tour 1.5 hrs for 20 dollars not Inc tip. Was great. You can also rent canoes, kayaks and I think bicycles. Very picturesque on the water. Would visit again.

Unique outdoor experience. Lots of wildlife. Beautiful place. Great for kids. A lot can be learned here. Safe place to experience aligators in their natural habitat. Board walk and observation tower are a must see. Camping is accessible by canoe only, and an amazing experience. Truly a "get away from it all" experience. Tours offered. Boats, canoes, and kayaks available for rent or bring your own. Can fish here. Chesser Homestead is a must see.

We love to hike here and the programs (intro to archery, nature hikes etc.) are great too. We have fished here as well but the gators can be a nuisance if you're casting out from the banks along Cane Pole Trail or the boat launch area. Definitely bring plenty of water if you plan on hitting most of the trails as there is precious little shade available.

Very nice people at the visitor centre. We went to the boardwalk. Nice views but at the time of being there we just saw 1 gator, 3 egrets and a few lizards. That was about it. We hoped for more wildlife. Because the park was so empty of wildlife, we skipped the canoeing.
