We've spent the last two Thanksgivings in the FLS Caboose and it's been such a great adventure. We sleep 4 in there and while it is tight quarters, there's plenty of room outside to play and explore. It's a short walk to downtown and local restaurants. Highly recommend!
Sleep in a train car. Bunk beds only, with a fold out couch. I stayed in the caboose, which was clean, and very nice. You could literally accommodate 5 people with sleeping arrangements. My caboose had a huge covered porch with a big table where the large group could easily spend time.
Another suggestion, bring earplugs to sleep at night. You are literally next to two very busy main train lines, which makes sitting on the porch fun, but sleeping not so much...
Have stayed at both the roadmaster's lodge and the caboose. The lodge is the more comfortable, better equipped facility, but, if you have kids, try the caboose. (The 5 star rating is NOT according to Michelin or AAA standards. It only applies to rail fans.)
Suggestion, call the owners rather than using the website to make reservations.
Great for railfans and nonrailfans alike, assuming you don't mind the train going by. The accommodations are clean, comfortable and offer all that you will need during your stay in Folkston.
